is the stress depends upon force and area or it not
Answers
Answer:
yes stress depends upon force and area.
Answer:
no stress is independent up on force and area
Explanation:
No.Stress is not a material property.Its not force/area ,it's (resisting force)/ area..only is 1D
There is a lot of confusion in this statement as stress and strain are related to Young's modulus also
Suppose I take a 2 bars of different material, same cross sectional area of steel and rubber and try to apply a load which deforms it uniaxially
So now the Young's modulus of both are different but it will not affect stress. If Young's modulus is high then it deforms less
You can imagine like say stress is 100 for same load on 2 cases
Stress= strain * E
2*50 = 100
50* 2 = 100
In case of stronger material E=50, strain is 2
In softer material E=2 and strain is 50
But stress developed for a constant load doesn't change.
