A Question of Trust:
Horace Danby, a respectable citizen generally, is not a typical thief. He is fond of expensive books and he steals money from rich people once a year to get those expensive books. He chose Shotover Grange's house as his next target and studied it carefully. When Horace found out that there is no one at the residence, he broke in to open the safe.
But a lady appeared in the doorway and threatened him to get arrested. Believing her to be the mistress of the house, Horace agreed to open the safe for her. He placed his trust in her and opened the safe. He got arrested and found that she is also a thief.
