Is the volume of a gas always the volume of its container?

it can be possible that the volume of a gas always equal the volume of the container . but if you increase the pressure in this case the volume of gas is not equal to volume of container . because you increase pressure by which volume increases ... hence volume of a gas may always equal to the volume of container and may not be ...
