Is there a difference between a molecule and an atom?

ATOM is only a single unit of matter. But a MOLECULE is a group of Atoms.

For ex- H stands for Hydrogen

but - H2 stands for Hydrogen molecule made up of 2 Hydrogen atoms.

Atoms become molecules when the combine with each other to gain the atomic number of the nearest INERT GAS.

H2 means it has gained the Atomic number of HELIUM.
