Its a myth for those who do not see the unity. We must deal with this question firstly what we mean by diversity and then what we mean by unity amongst those diversities. Unity in diversity - Wikipedia

Diversity. A nation consists of its People, culture, land, history, faiths or religions and its constitution. Giving values out of 10 in comparison to other nations except for constitution, India will get most marks close to 10.

Unity. How such a vast diversity is united in India? its best demonstrated in the Constitution where all aspects are put in one single thread thus allowing them to be united and diverse as well. We have survived it for last 7 decades now and was infact existed earlier also. That was realised by our great leaders like Mahatma Gandhi who moved the entire nation as a single unit for the freedom. Constitution of India - Wikipedia

To give one example; India is having many faiths within Hinduism and was united by creating four Dhams, master religious places one in every direction viz Jaganth Puri in the East, Dwarka in the West, Badrinath in the North and Rameswaram in the South. Char Dham - Wikipedia

More and more religions as they were formed in the world got inspired with the vast knowledge that India had accumulated and find place here also. Many new religions were born here viz Jainism, Buddhism and Sikhs. I term them as Religions of Indian origin. I have selected religion because religion in itself contains Language, culture, philosophy, science and practise besides history of rulers also. Religion in India - Wikipedia

Those who have travelled India far and wide and even in the countries of the Indian subcontinent will find the flavour of that thread that unites these aspects of diversity into one. When I travelled in Europe i missed the diversity. The religion, the architecture, the dress and food all seems to be similar.

At present our Parliament, Indian Army, sports teams like Cricket, our academic and research Institutions and administrative services all are reflection of this unity in diversity.
