In a multicellular context, in silico keratocyte-like cells reproduce the density dependent collective migration of real keratocytes , while amoeboid cells are able to squeeze themselves through densely packed tissues, resembling effector T cells crawling through the skin epidermis

Answer:

Talking in a general way, there's a difference between crawling and gliding. While crawling represents moving forward by dragging one's body near the ground, gliding refers to the smooth and unrestricted movement over any surface.

This can be explained with respect to the movement of cells such as the amoeboid cells and the keratocyte like cells. The amoeboid cells are deformed and they follow the crawling movement whereas the keratocyte like cells are half moon shaped and they follow the gliding movement.
