The main function of centriole is to form astral rays or spindle fibres during cell division. They help in bringing the choromosomes to the opposite poles during anaphase so that the cell can create a furrow or cell plate to divide itself into 2 daughter cells.
But as we all know neural cells don't divide.Only they are damaged cannot be replaced by cell division and hence are ruptured for life.
Since there is no use of centrioles in the neural cells, the have gradually disappeared!!
So probably yes there is an evolutionary reason.
