Is there any relationship in the no. Of chromosomes of meiocytes and gametes?

Meiocytes are always diploid and contain 23 pairs of chromosome and gametes are haploid contain only 23 chromosome.Gametes are formed from meiotic division of meiocyte. A s a results number of chromosome in gametes is half of the number of chromosomes of meiocytes.
