This is something that I go for (went for)
Splitting middle term:
Sum = xxxx
Product = xxxx
Factorise the 'product' in such a way that u can easily find 2 numbers which when added gives you the required sum.
Eg:
x^2 + 20x + 64
sum = 20
product = 64
Now,
64 = 8 * 8 [this can be easily visualised in mind]
= 2*4 * 8 = 16 * 4
16*4 = 64 && 16+4 = 20
You might find it difficult or awkward initially, but by practice you can do this by visualizing in mind. Practice makes you perfect
