you can easily learn value of gamma
by below method .
first you understand what is degree of freedom ?
=> degree of freedom means number of possible way to carry energy .
example :-
He , this is monoatomic atom
it has only linear motion no vibration and no rotational .
but we know there are three way of linear motion e.g x -axis , y -axis and z -axis
hence ,
degree of freedom of He=3
in the same way
diatomic molecule (e.g H2 , O2 , etc)
have translational (linear ) and rotational both .
so,
degree of freedom =5
at high temperature vibrational motion also exist
so D.O.F =7
for triatomic (eg AB2 ,A2B type )
DOF=6
at high temperature
DOF=9
now ,
gamma =1+2/D.O.F
now put degree of freedom and find easily gamma value .
I.e .
gama for monoatomic=1+2/3=5/3
,, ,, diatomic =1+2/5 =7/5
,, ,, triatomic =1+2/6=4/3
