i) The wood molecule is closely packed whereas coal molecule is not so.

ii) Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock formed as rock strata called coal seams.

iii) Coal is a mineral while wood is not a mineral. iv) Coal is made up of carbon and wood is made up of cellulose, lignin, etc.

v) At the process of burning wood produces high flame whereas coal pdoduces smoke.
