Is there some technique to rehydrate viscera in formolin or alcohol?

Tissues stored in formalin are not dehydrated; they are stiff because the proteins are crosslinked by the formalin. I would not expect soaking them in water for any length of time to improve this, because that isn't a reversible change the way dehydration is. I have less experience with alcohol preserved specimens, but it denatures rather then cross links the proteins.

We use formalin to preserve tissue bade on its ability to coagulate the biological organelles and unlucky this is not reversed. So if you use formalin it is not possible to rehydrate it again.
