Answer:

It takes an outstanding effort of self-leadership for you to build a more successful personal and professional life.

Here are nine self-development steps to get you started. Use them as a starting point and add to the list so you can develop a system to help you accomplish what you’d like to do with your life.

Try rating yourself on each point. Remember, if you don’t do it, who will?

Explanation:

1. Develop an effective personality

Building a successful career is dependent on your ability to work well with people. Here are 2 ways to create a personality that works for, not against you.

a)Take responsibility for your actions. Pointing fingers to fix blame is not a good exercise. Don't look for a scapegoat.

b)Get along with others. A friend is better than a foe. Be considerate of the feelings of others. Develop a cooperative attitude.

2. Be a people person

This starts with caring. Strive to understand the other person’s point of view. Practice empathy and walking in their shoes before casting judgment.

Relating to people is the key step. Start the encounter with the intent of being nice, cooperative and respectful. As I said, caring is the major component of this approach to success with people. We must never forget that, in the grand scheme of things, we need other people.

3. Sell yourself

It’s important that you like who you are. If you don’t, you will have great difficulty selling your skills, talents or ambition. Be confident, not arrogant, and build trust in your abilities.

We are all in the “selling” business regardless of our career choice. A great selling tool is your ability to excel and willingness to work hard. This makes you a person others want to emulate.

4. Never stop learning

This step goes hand in hand to help accomplish the last point. Read, take college classes. Attend seminars. Study the experiences of others so you won’t repeat their mistakes.

Never go to bed with the same quantity of information you possessed when you woke up in the morning. Soak up knowledge at every opportunity. There is something magical about learning new information (at least that’s how I feel).

5. Develop a sound value system

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand right from wrong. You know the difference. The question is, have you adopted values that support right or perpetuate wrong?

We have many corporate leaders who have their value systems turned off. Don’t fall into the trap of letting ambition, power and greed get in the way of doing the right thing. Do you have a clear understanding of your personal values? Values cannot be fuzzy. Such values are not values, just fleeting thoughts.

6. Be an effective communicator

Learn how to express yourself well with words. Take a speech class. Join Toastmasters. Listen to great speakers. Adapt what they teach and demonstrate.

My childhood hero with words was Earl Nightingale. He was mesmerizing. One of my most memorable moments was being able to spend one-on-one time with Earl. .

7. Practice listening more than you talk

This is usually our weakest communication skill. We’d rather talk than listen (I plead guilty on this point). But you can learn to listen. It’s called practice.

Pick a day and do not talk unless someone talks to you. If you must speak, use questions and shut up while you listen to the answer.

8. Focus your life

Do you have a direction established for your career? Are you clear about the values and direction you want to create for your life? Focus helps establish priorities and enhances your ability to reach greater levels of success.

So many people wake up and start the day without any clear focus on what they want to achieve. They react rather than reflect. Become like a laser beam. Set goals, set priorities, whatever you call it. Just do the things that develop your passion and bring a sense of peace.

9. Undergo constant evaluation

Few things improve without a tough review of processes and methods used. Make a daily habit of reviewing all actions taken and lessons learned. Make changes based upon these facts. This places you light years ahead of those who choose to never reflect on anything about their life.

At the end of each day, reflect on your day. Did you begin with a clear direction? Were your actions in line with the direction in which you want to move your life?

How did you do? Are you comfortable you’ve mastered these tips, or do you feel you still have a long way to go?

One way to get a feel for all this is to ask the opinion of a trusted friend. You want someone who will tell you the truth because they love you. Compare notes and adjust. Plan for improving yourself. Life should be an upward spiral towards excellence, a continuous improvement journey. Are you ready for the trip? Are you ready to lead yourself to greatness?

Is this elongation ok friend anyways Thank you
