India's Dalits are still fighting untouchability. Dalits are at the bottom of the Hindu caste system and despite laws to protect them, they still face widespread discrimination in India. The govt. is still trying to eradicate it but for a society which is based on subordination and division, it is not easy to suddenly accept that even those who are at the bottom of their society are equal to them. Equality comes about in years, if not generations. It is a slow process.
