Uranium 235 is better than uranium 238.

  • Uranium 238 is a more abundantly found isotope of Uranium in nature. its availability is up to 90% but it is not preferred as it is difficult  for this isotope to undergo fission reaction therefore it is not used in nuclear reactors instead uranium 235 is preferred to carry on the chain reaction as uranium 235 is able to carry on with fission reaction.
  • It is able to undergo fission reaction only with the help of fast moving neutrons but still the fission reaction cannot carry on a chain reaction therefore it is not used for  production of energy.
  • In reactors uranium 238 is used for generation of plutonium isotope or Pu239. This plutonium isotope generated with the help of Uranium 238 is used in power generation.
