variations are more beneficial for the population because variations occurs in very small amount in every generation according to the need so when it gets accumulated it brings about a real change. ex-thermoacidophiles(resistant to temperature change)

variations are more beneficial for the species because it allows organisms to exist in diverse habitats or niches. In its absence a species may remain restricted to a particular area. However, if it occurs in population it will help them to colonise other habitats and survive.
