Is virus living or dead ? well i know that if it is outside the host than ot is inactive and if inside a host then it becomes active ? please tell ur own answer

a virus needs a suitable organism . and when it finds that it enters in the body of that organism .till then it is inactive and it can be stored in jar like crystal and after entering a host it becomes active or alive
