Yes, we can see nearly 80% of the sewage generated in India flows untreated into its rivers, lakes and ponds, turning the water sources too polluted to use. The end result: groundwater in almost the entire country has nitrate levels higher than the prescribed levels – a result of sewage leaching into India’s groundwater aquifers.

In this question, we are asked to talk about the modern sewage disposal system.
- 90% of the water that enters homes is sewage. Cities are unable to prepare and cannot treat all of the sewage they produce because they have no records of the sewage they produce.
- Physical, biological, chemical, and sludge water treatment are the four main techniques used to treat sewage water.
- By employing these techniques, wastewater is purified of all sewage components and transformed into treated water that is secure for use by humans as well as the environment.
- There are numerous ways to get rid of sewage, but there are primarily two: removal in a system of waterborne sewers (sewerage) or disposal through an on-site sanitation system (pit latrines or septic tanks). In built-up areas, the majority of cities, and industrial complexes, the former has evolved into routine procedures.
