Given : x = - 2 a root of the equation 2x² + 2x - 5= 0

To Find :  True or False

Solution:

if  x= a  is a root of  Equation  p(x) = 0

Then P (a )  =  0

as  x = - 2 a root of the equation 2x² + 2x - 5= 0

Hence  2(-2)²  + 2(-2) - 5 must be zero

=>  8  - 4 -  5 = -  1 ≠ 0

Hence  -2 is not a root of  2x² + 2x - 5= 0
