WHAT ARE REAL NUMBERS?

A real number is a value of a continuous quantity that can represent a distance along a line.

It has some magnitude.

CLASSIFICATION :-

1. RATIONAL NUMBERS

Those numbers which can be expressed or written in p/q form, where q is not equal to zero , is said to be rational numbers.

  • Integers
  • Terminating Decimal
  • Whole and natural numbers
  • Fractions
  • Repeating decimals

All these are included in Rational numbers like -6/13, 0.999..., 0.56, 9 etc.

THEREFORE , Zero is also a rational number because it can be written in p/q form i.e. 0/1 or 0/25 etc. because when zero is divided in any real number the value remains 0.

2.IRRATIONAL NUMBER

The numbers which cannot be express in p/q form are known as irrational number.

All the non-repeating And non-terminating decimal numbers are included in irrational numbers.
