In context to question asked,

We have to determine the present age of Isha.

As per question,

It is given that,

Isha is 5 years younger then her brother. After 4 years their ages will be in ratio 2:3

So, Let the present age of her brother = x years

So, present age of Isha will be = (x - 5) years

So, Age of her brother after 4 years will be = (x+4) years

Age of Isha after 4 years will be = (x - 5 +4) =  (x - 1) years

So, from the condition given in the question,

\frac{x-1}{x+4}=\frac{2}{3}\\=>3(x-1)=2(x+4)\\=>3x-3=2x+8\\=>x = 11

Hence, present age of Isha will be =(x-5) = (11-5) = 6\:years

While the present age of her brother will be =x = 11\:years

Answer:

Given,

Isha's age is 5 years younger than her brother

To find ,

Their present ages

Solution,

Let Isha's  age be  a variable 'x'

and Isha's brother's age be the variable 'y'

then,

y=x+5

from the question, after 4 years the ages of Isha and her brother will be 2:3

i.e , the ratio of Isha's age to her brother's after 4 years will be

(4+x)/y =2/3

(4+x)/(x+4+5)=2/3

(4+x)/(x+9)=2/3

Now, after cross multiplying, we get,

3(4+x)=2(9+x)

12+3x=18+2x

Now we separate the variables to one side, and the constants to the other

3x-2x=18-12

x=6

Since , x=6, Isha's current age is 6

and her brother who is 5 years older, is 6+5=11 years old.
