Isha’s grandfather was 5 times older to her 4 years ago. He would be three times of her age 8 years from now. 7 years ago, what was the ratio of Isha’s age to that of her grandfather’s age?

suppose that now their age is

x and y

6 years ago age was:x-6 , y-6

(x-5)5=y-6

after 4 years age would be

(y+4)=3(x+4)

on solving eq 1 and 2 we get x=16 y =56

so 8 years ago

(16-8)/(56-8)= 1/6

ratio is = 1:6

 {\huge {\mathfrak {Answer :-}}}

Let, Isha's age be x.

And her grandfather's age be y.

Thus, (y - 4) = 5(x - 4)

Or, y - 4 = 5x - 20

Or, 5x - y = 16

Or, y = 5x - 16. ............. (1)

➡️ And, (y + 8) = 3(x + 8)

Or, y + 8 = 3x + 24

Or, 5x - 16 + 8 = 3x + 24 [from (1)]

Or, 2x = 32

Or, x = 16

And, y = 5(16) - 16 = 64.

8 years ago, Isha = 16 - 8 = 8

And, her grandfather = 64 - 8 = 56.

➡️ The ratio of Isha's age to that of her Grandfather's is

= 8/56

= 1/7

= 1 : 7
