Given : clock is positioned betweeen 9 and 10. The angle between the two hands is 145°

To find : The time shown by the clock

Solution:

Clock is positioned between 9 & 10

The angle between the two hands is 145°

=> angle can be 360° - 145° = 215°

Position of Hour Hand at 9  = 270°

Let say Time spent after 9 is  X mins

Then in X mins movement of Hr Hand

Hr Hand moves

30° in 60 mins

=> Movement in X mins = X/2

position of Hr Hand = 270 + X/2

Mins hand moves 360° in 60 mins

=> 6° in 1 Mins

=> Movement = 6X

270 + X/2 - 6X = 145

=> 11X/2 = 125

=> X = 22.7

or (360 + 6x) - (270 + X/2) = 145

=> 11X/2 = 55

=> X = 10

The time shown by the clock is

9 : 10

or 9 : 22 / 9:23
