Answer:

The isomerism exhibited by [Co(NH₃)₅(NO₂)](NO₃)₂ is linkage isomerism and ionization isomerism.

Explanation:

  • Isomers are the compounds have which have same molecular formula but different structures and hence have different physical and chemical properties. This phenomenon is called isomerism.
  • Given coordination compound [Co(NH₃)₅(NO₂)](NO₃)₂  shows linkage isomerism. The ligand NO₂, the nitrogen as well as oxygen can donate their electron pairs. This gives rise to linkage isomerism. If nitrogen donates electron to Co then one particular compound is formed. If oxygen donates electron pair to cobalt then different compound is formed. Therefore, the two isomers formed are   [Co(NH₃)₅(NO₂)](NO₃)₂ and [Co(NH₃)₅(ONO)](NO₃)₂.
  • [Co(NH₃)₅(NO₂)](NO₃)₂ also shows ionization isomerism. This isomerism arise from the interchange of groups within or outside the coordination spheres. The isomers gives different ions in the solution. The isomers are [Co(NH₃)₅(NO₂)](NO₃)₂ and  [Co(NH₃)₅(NO₃)](NO₃)(NO₂).
