Isolines are not used in the making of isopleth maps, the reason is quite obvious as isopleth maps are the type of maps in which abrupt changes are avoided. Abrupt changes are responsible for the production of line which is used in the making of choropleth maps, but in isopleth maps these abrupt changes are not needed. Temprature is an example of isopleth map which exist on every point but does not change on every point. I hope this answer will be helpful for you.

Isopleth maps are drawn using equal value lines on them. Values on one side of the line drawn are more than the isoline value, while those on the other side are lower.


On the other hand, isolines represent points of the same value on a map. Thus, the reason why isolines are not used to draw the lines is that the values on either side are not the same.
