in isothermal process the work done is greatest :-

because according to First law of thermodynamics

ΔQ=ΔU+ΔW  which is nothing but a fashionable form of conservation of energy ie, the heat given to the system is equal to the increase in internal energy +the work done by the system

                                                                 and in the isothermal process the temperature does not change and so the internal energy.... as a result of it all the heat given to the system is used up by the system to do work and hence the work done by the system is greatest
