Silverware becomes black as it tarnishes due to sulfur gas, when exposed to air . As in last 50 years, air pollution hasincreased .So amount of sulfur dioxide and hydrogen sulfide gases isincreased in the air. So , silverware becomes black faster today than 50 years ago.
