Given :   It is 11 AM at place ‘A’ which is at 74 degrees East.

To find : What is the time at place 'B' which is at the longitude 24 degrees East?

Solution:

GMT  time ( green witch time)

Longitude is 0 deg there

360 deg longitude = 24 hours

=> 1 deg longitude = 24 / 360 hr  = 1/15  hr  = 4 mins

=> 180 Deg longitude = 180/15  = 12 hr

Moving toward East time is increasing

It is 11 AM at place ‘A’ which is at 74 degrees East.  

=> 74 * 4  =  296 minutes ahead of GMT

time at place 'B' which is at the longitude 24 degrees East

=> 24 * 4  =  96  minutes ahead of GMT  

Hence   Time at Place B is behind 200 minuutes than Time at Place A

so time a Place B will be

11 AM  -  3 hr 20 mins

= 7 : 40 AM

if 74 would have been 54   or  24 would have been 44

then Difference = 30 Deg = 120 mins = 2 hrs

Then Time at Place B  =  9 AM
