Answer:

The three main wood-smoothing tools at your disposal are sandpaper, scrapers and planes. Each has its advantages.

Explanation:

Compass and circular planes are used to plane curved surfaces. The block plane is used to smooth the end grain of a board. Power routers and edgers have replaced many of the speciality planes, but the block plane is still a useful tool for any shop. Block planes are smaller and lighter than bench planes. The hand tools for size-finishing and smoothing of curved surfaces are rasps and files of different shapes. The chips are removed by successive cutting edges which are called “cuts”. The cuts are cut or milled into the basic body, the blade

Compass planes or circular planes use for smoothing curved surfaces.

  • A curved surface is a rounded surface that is not flat or in a distorted shape. Some examples of curved surfaces are globes, balls, eggs, etc.
  • Major companies of vintage planes used circular planes, to flatten the convex or concave objects.
  • Circular planes can also be termed  Compass Planes.
  • These planes can be easily found in carpenter shops as they need them for smoothing the wood surfaces.
