Light is a major source of energy for every living organism in the world. The evolution of life dating back to many centuries ago used light as one of the major sources of energy for every activity.

Plants, which are the primary producers of the ecosystem, carry out photosynthesis to survive only by using light. Light is the sole energy source for the plants, apart from water.

Then, came the algae, fungi, and other micro-organisms, which developed photoreceptors to absorb the sunlight for metabolism and survival.

For, animals and humans, life would come to a standstill, if there was no light. The sunlight is a measure of day and night, according to which the humans carry out their day to day activities. The biological clock has also been set to work during the daytime when there is light and rest at night while there is no sunlight.

Solar energy is the ultimate source of energy for the existence of all living organisms, for photosynthesis, for bioluminescence, for phototaxis, for production of oxygen, for the presence of ozone layer, and many other purposes.

No wonder, the Sun was worshipped as a God in the ancient times and by few cultures even today.
