No it is not compulsory to get a partnership registered. It can be oral also.

Registration of a Partnership is voluntary..hence not mandatory/compulsory.... A written agreement between the partners called as "Partnership deed" is sufficient for the formation of a Partnership firm. However there are certain privileges when it comes to a registered partnership .. that interest on capital etc can be allowed to the partners which is not possible in unregistered firms...if a firm is registered,it should abide by the rules framed under the Partnership act 1932..So registration is not compulsory..but provides security and added flexibility..
