if the switch is connected in the neutral wire it can be quite deceptive and dangerous for the user. As in the on position it will allow current to pass nd in off position no current passes through the switch. But in off position since appliance remains connected to live wire of high potential , it is not safe to carry out any repairs in the appliance because touching the live wire in appliances, the current will pass through the circuit and the person may get a fatal shock.
