a blunt nail has a larger area , that's why the force you apply gets distributed over a larger area,hence the pressure is less

It is easier to fix a sharp nail in the wall than a blunt nail although both will be piercing with the same force.
More pressure is exerted by sharp nails. The surface area in the nail tip is small. So Pressure = Force/Area. A blunt nail on the other hand puts less pressure as the tip of the nail covers large surface area.
