according to the third law of motion for each action there is equal and opposite reaction and acting on different bodies.

It is difficult to walk on sand or ice because when we apply force on ice then due to the conversion of mechanical energy into heat energy ice melts and therefore it decreases the friction so it is difficult to walk on ice

and in the case of sand when we apply force on sand force splits in many directions and it cannot able to give us sufficient reaction force so it is difficult to walk on sand
