This is due to ATMOSPHERIC PRESSURE.
When a rubber suckrr is pressed against a surface , the air inside it is pushed out creating a vacuum.
Then the atmosphere applies pressure and pushes and sticks the suckrr firmly against the surface.
Therefore a high energy is required to overcome the atmospheric pressure.
