It is easier to carry a bag with a strap than a string, why?

presure increases as area decreases...if we carry a bag with a strap then area increases and pressure decreases but in case we carry a bag with a string it decreases the area and increases the pressure and hence it is difficult to carry....

because less pressure is exerct if the area of the thing is wide. For example it is easier to walk by slippers on sand and harder to walk by using heels sandals.
