It is easier to cut with a sharp knife than with a blunt one. Explain the following.

it cuts better because it is sharper. the force exerted on it is greater than it would be if it was blunt.
The area on the tip of the blade is small meaning the pressure exerted is all at the end of the tip making it easier to use.

 as pressure(p)=force(F)/area(A)
so,pressure is directly proportional to force applied on it
and inversely proportional to the area.
