Newton's Third Law states that all actions have equal and opposite reactions. When we kick the rock or stone, the rock or stone exerts an equally opposite force on the leg, which hurt us. This force is the reaction force.

When pushing at an angle,  two forces are applied. ---

  • The horizontal force acts along a plane.
  • Normal force downwards perpendicular to the surface.

When you push something, the force contributes to an increase in the normal reaction force from the ground, which leads to an increase in stiction.

However, when you pull something, the force acts to reduce the normal reaction force, so the frictional force acting, in that case, is smaller.

Answer:

Resistance while kicking a stone is less than when dragging the stone.

Explanation:

  • Newton's Third Law states that " every actions have equal and opposite reactions".

When we kick the rock or stone, the rock or stone exerts an equally opposite force on the leg, which hurt us. This force is the reaction force.

This reaction force makes it difficult to kick the stone.

  • When pushing at an angle,  two forces act of the body:

The horizontal component of the force acts along a plane.

The other component of the force acts downwards perpendicular to the surface.

When you push something, the force contributes to an increase in the normal reaction force from the ground, which leads to an increase in friction.

  • However, when you pull something, the force acts to reduce the normal reaction force, so the frictional force acting, in that case, is smaller. Thus it is easier to drag a stone rather than kicking it.
