It is easier to hold a kulhar because it made up of mud and has several irregularities on its surface.As there are many irregularities there would be more interlocking and thus friction will increase .Thus,it will provide a better grip.
On the other side , the glass tumbler has a smooth surface thus it will not provide adequate grip and thus there are chances of slip
