Every fluid, like water or air exerts pressure on a body. The pressure exerted by the fluid on the body is greater at the bottom of the body and so it produces an upward lift on the body called the buoyant force. This force is directly linked to the density of the fluid, i.e. Higher density fluid exerts a greater upward thrust/buoyant force on the body. So, since water is denser than air, it will push the body up with a greater force and it will be relatively easier for you to lift the body.
