Yes it is true that it is easier to pull down a tree branch from it's free end because of the following two reasons:-
1. At the end of the branches, there are few leaves and not hard as much as it is at other places so it becomes easy.
2. The another and most important reason is the application of torque.
We all know that, Torque= Force × length
So, if length will be more than torque will be more hence pull down will be easier. If we pull down from end of the branches then length will be more so we can easily pull it down.
