Yes it is easier to sustain motion than to create . Since we all know friction is always present . So when a body is at rest then if we apply force to move it then the static friction will act on it and static friction is a self adjustable force and to accelerate a body we need to apply force greater than the friction force
Force applied > Coefficient of static friction *normal reaction
Now when the body is in motion then kinetic friction acts on it and the coefficient of kinetic friction is always smaller than the static coefficient and hence friction force decreases . That is why it is easy to sustain motion than to create motion .
