It is easy to contract gas but difficult to contract a solid .why? explain​

it is easy to contract gas and difficult to contract solid this is because of the molecular density of the substances. As the density of gas is least and the atoms are free it doesn't take that hard to contract gas bit it is not the same case for solid as its density is the highest and as the atoms are packed very tightly.
