it is established that an electric current through a conductor produces a magnetic field around it is there a similar magnetic field produced around a thin beam of moving (1)Alpha particles (2) neutrons. justify your answer in each cases?

alpha particles- yes because these are highly positive particles so the direction of magnetic field will also be similar

neutrons - no as these have no charge so no field is produced

Answer:

(i) Yes,

(ii) No.

Alpha particles are positively charged particlesand therefore a thin beam of moving alpha particles constitutes acurrent in the direction of motion of the alpha particles. The neutrons on the other hand are electrically neutral and therefore there is no current associated with the thin beam of moving neutrons.
