let the no deers in the bank be X

now,no of deers in the forest will be 8x

total no of deers =8x +X =153

X=17
therefore number of deers in forest is 8×17 which is136

let no of deer on bank of river =X
then deer in the forest = 8x
x+8x = 153 given
9x =153
x=17
dear in forest = 8x
8×17
136
