Given : 5(3/a)×b(1/2)=19    the two fractions are mixed fractions

5 3/a   x  b 1/2  = 19

To find : value of a+b.

Solution:

5 3/a   x  b 1/2  = 19

5 x 4 = 20

6 x 3 =  18

Hence b must be 3

=> 5 3/a   x  3 1/2  = 19

=> (5a + 3)/a  x 7/2 = 19

= (5a + 3)  * 7  = 38a

=> 35a + 21 = 38a

=> 3a = 21

=> a = 7

5 3/7  x  3 1/2   = 19

=> 38/7  x 7/2 = 19

a  = 7

b = 3

a + b = 7 + 3 = 10

value of a+b. = 10
