It is hard to open the lid of a jam bottle, why does it open easily when the neck with the lid is put in hot water?

"METALS EXPAND ON HEATING"
BASED ON THIS PRINCIPLE, THE LID OF THE JAM BOTTLE IS MADE UP OF METAL SO WHEN IT IS PUT IN HOT WATER IT EXPANDS AND EASILY COMES OUT FROM THE NECK OF THE BOTTLE.
