The given statement us actually false.

They have a cooler summer because the sea moderates any temperature rise - a cool breeze comes off the sea. They don’t generally have a colder winter; rather the opposite for the same reason - the thermal mass of the sea moderates any temperature fall. I live in Vancouver on the sea, and right now it’s about 0C here but 30 degrees colder inland
