According to the question;

 \Rightarrow \dfrac{9}{10}x = 5

 \Rightarrow x = 5 \times \dfrac{10}{9} = \dfrac{50}{9}

Number of them defective

 = 10\%\space of\space x

 = 10\%\space of\space\dfrac{50}{9}

 = \dfrac{10}{100} \times \dfrac{50}{9}

 = \dfrac{5}{9}

 \approx 0.56

Hence,  0.56 units of the production are defective.
