this shows the law of dominance
where a trait is inherited but isn't expressed.
e.g.: when mendel crossed homozygous tall plant with homozygous short plant, in F1 generation all the plants were tall, but in F2 generation there were 3 tall plants and 1 short plant. This shows that the short trait was inherited but as tall trait was dominant over short trait it couldn't express itself in f1 progeny but expressed in f2 progeny.
